Sherem, Nehor, and Korihor

I have been re-reading the Book of Mormon recently, well, listening to it while I drive to and from work. I just started into the section where Alma goes out with the sons of Mosiah, and a couple things stood out to me about how the entire Book of Mormon up to this point teaches us about what we will encounter in the last days.

Telling lies for Jesus...

There are times where God has commanded even His prophets to not tell the full truth, such as when God commanded Abraham to tell Pharaoh that Sarah was his sister and not his wife. There are other times, however, when telling a small lie to start a conversation can come back to bite you in the end...

On Politics and Gadiantons

The Book of Mormon was written for our day, and serves as a warning against the Secret Combinations™ of the Gadianton Robbers. Why did Mormon, and later Moroni, spend so much of the precious space on the plates with the records of the Jaredites, specifically their secret combinations, and then the Gadianton Robbers?
